Who We Are

Our Family

We are a fun loving family that loves to be together

Thanks for taking time to get to know a little about us!

We are starting on this adoption journey to grow our family. We have been blessed with two wonderful children and know that adoption is the path to grow our family.

Kevin and I were raised  in Utah. Kevin comes from a family of seven kids (6 boys and 1 girl) and I come from a family of three kids, all girls! We both went to the same High School, however, we didn’t actually know each other until a few years later after graduation since he is 5 years older than me. We have been married since June 2008. Before we had our kids, E (8) and A (5), I worked full time at a Credit Union to support my husband while he went to BYU to Study Accounting. When he graduated we stayed in Utah for a little bit, had our son E and then moved to Fort Worth Texas area for a year, then moved back to Utah. Our family is here and we felt it was best for our kids to grow up around their cousins and grandparents.

Our family enjoys being adventurous and making family the center of our lives. We enjoy family vacations from camping to Disneyland to going to Germany (where Kevin served a 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) and anywhere we can go enjoying time together. Our summers are spent outside playing or going to a nearby reservoir and kayaking. The kids love anything we can do with them. If we aren’t outside hanging out or at the pool or kayaking you will find us running our kids from soccer to baseball to dance, piano, and friends. We want our kids to have every opportunity to do something they love, and our goal is to support them in whatever activities they want to do.

A little about Kevin

I grew up in a house with 6 siblings, one sister and 5 brothers. Having as many boys as we did was a lot of fun for me growing up. I was always out playing sports and became great friends with brothers and that relationship has continued, and we still get together to play sports on occasion, play games, or just get together so our kids can play or to just hang out. I still spend a lot of time with my family, we do dinner at least once a month at my parents and get together for other family events.

As mentioned above I played a lot of sports growing up and still enjoy sports. I mostly watch sports now and play with my kids. I still play softball and have had a lot of fun doing that and have been able to do that with siblings, friends, and coworkers.

In my free time I like to just be with family and friends. I’ve been lucky in that my kids’ best friends are my siblings’ kids and the kids of my best friends growing up. When we get together with friends one thing we enjoy doing is playing board games and have even started monthly games nights with some friends. One thing I have grown to love since being married that I didn’t get a chance to do much of while growing up is travelling. I’ve been able to go to Disneyland with my family a few times now as well as other parts in California. My wife and I were fortunate to be able to go to Germany for our 10 year anniversary. This turned out to be us planning a trip for a group of 10, siblings with their spouses and some friends. My wife and I loved that and can’t wait to be able to take our kids to do a trip like that.

Melinda and I have been blessed with two great kids. We feel like our family isn’t complete and that someone is missing. We won’t be able to have any more children and feel that adoption would be a way for us to complete our family.

A Little about Kevin from Melinda

He is one of the calmest people you will ever meet. He is such a hard worker and does it all for our family. He is great at leaving work at work. When he gets home he is able to focus on our family.  He knows how to calm me down when he sees me frustrated. He is a wonderful father and makes our kids feel important. He loves to play sports and still participates in a softball league now. He coaches E’s soccer team and is great at it. He is usually the one encouraging us to go for an evening walk as a family when the weather is nice. He is adventurous and willing to try new and sometimes scary things like paragliding.

He is truly my better half. He is the one whom I turn to with any and everything. He is truly my best friend. I am so blessed to spend this life and eternity with him.

A little about Melinda

I am not great at writing about myself so bare with me. I love to be a mom. It is my favorite thing in the world. My family is what I think about and worry about all the time. I am lucky enough to have found my wonderful companion to go through all of life journey with. When I am not trying to keep up with house work and kids I am up for an adventure. We have kayaks we use as a family, I go hiking with friends as often as I can and I even started snow shoeing last year.

I also enjoy keeping a garden and canning that every year. There is something so satisfying hearing all the bottles seal. I also have been lucky enough to help with friends and families weddings and use a talent of flower arranging which I learned from my very talented aunts. I enjoy finding a home project I can do on Pinterest and going a head to tackle a new project. I even tiled the bathroom floor when Kevin was out of town once.

I also enjoy the down time. I will find a good show on Netflix and watch it. So taking recommendations on those always.

One fun thing Kevin and I started this year was a German Christmas decoration company with some friends of ours. It is kind of fun and a little out there for some but it has been a ton of work and a very exciting growing experience.

I am hopeful to grow our family and be able to love on the child that comes to our home. I know this is the path to grow our family and I am excited to see how that will come.

A little about Melinda from Kevin

Melinda is a very friendly outgoing individual. We’ve had times where I turn my head and she’ll be down the street or across the park talking to someone. That is who she is. We have multiple friends who commented that she finds people she knows anywhere she goes. That is due to her being such a friendly outgoing person. On top of that Melinda is someone love everyone and they know it. Melinda was recently released for a calling at our church where she was serving with the youth. I’ve received dozens of comments from people who have served with her seen her serve, or have kids who Melinda worked with and they’ve all said the same thing, she loves the youth so much and they know that she loves them.

Most important of all she is a very loving mother and wife. Melinda would do anything for me or our kids. I couldn’t ask for a better companion or mother to be raising my children. I am so grateful that I met Melinda that I get to have her in my life forever.family
